About Lyle LaMont
"What better Way to Celebrate Nature, than to paint it." |
|
This isn't just a quote to Lyle, who has dedicated his time and talent to portray the beauty that is Door County, Wisconsin. Originally from northern Illinois, LaMont attended the Layton School of Art and Design on scholarship. For over 30 years, the commercial field captured his heart and he rose to the position of Advertising Vice President for a Federated Department Store Division. For the last 14 years, LaMont has helped Walgreens Drug Stores grow from a small regional Drug Store business to a national organization with a drug store on every corner of America. In 2005, LaMont traded his suit and tie for a permanent spot in front of an easel and settled permanently with his wife of over 40 years, into a 107 year old, white farm style home in Ephraim, Wisconsin. In addition to creating beautiful oil paintings and pen & ink drawings of Door County, LaMont also captures the charm and beauty of his second love, the Cotswolds area in England. The LaMonts' love to ramble the single lane roads from village to village, photographing and sketching the centuries-old cottages, churches and pubs all built using indigenous golden limestone. They have two active Jack Russell terriers that draw them back from England to Door County and back to the easel.
