Pen & Ink Drawings
At the age of 12, pen & ink drawing was a way of saving and communicating thoughts and ideas about my limited knowledge of the world around me. I was immediately attracted to classic engravings used to illustrate books and magazines. In my early attempts I used a dip-pen and a bottle of permanent Higgins Black Ink. It taught me to think through my steps and be deliberate in my strokes, because one mistake made by snagging the surface of the paper resulted in a nasty "blob" of ink, that no amount of effort could repair. Now, I use mechanical drafting pens to produce my drawings, but the principles are the same - be thoughtful, be methodical and don't make mistakes that can't be repaired. Pen & Ink isn't forgiving like oil painting, but there isn't another medium that can produce the stark contrast and drama of black ink on white paper.
I welcome commissions for drawings of your special house or cottage.
